So, I might seem to be the most fickle blogger on the planet but I am turning Disqus back on. There are a few things driving this:
So, for today, I am turning on Disqus again. I have a script that will import LJ comments directly into the old comment system which I'll use for now. When I'm happy that it's working I'll publish it.

Any thought on Intense Debate? http://www.intensedebate.com
some... mostly half thought out., a proper analysis was on this weekend's agenda.:
1) I want to see if they have the same level of integration with friendfeed as disqus is working on. If comments are pushed from FF into intensedebate that's one less thing for me to worry about.
2) I haven't see as many folks using ID yet. I tend to be early but the earliest adopter with these things, especially when it comes to having it on my blog. The back and forth and back again I had with disqus is something I try to avoid.
Yeah FF integration is really the only thing stopping me. There is a FF WP plugin that will link to the FF discussion however: http://blog.slaven.net.au/wordpress-plugins/friendfeed-comments-wordpres...
Before I found out that Daniel and the folks at Disqus were working on it I started a similar project for Drupal, currently I'm just working on collecting the comments I get on the content I crosspost to LJ back to here. Once I'm happy with that I'll make a Disqus vs. ID decision.
Can you disable Disqus commenting on some things (ala book pages, etc.) like you can with the built in Drupal commenting?
sure you can. head back to my original post on the subject (http://seanreiser.com/node/1336). In step 12 notice the array with a list of nodetypes on the second line? You can add or remove any node type you think is appropriate.
Good Luck!
Hi.
This is great set of posts. I was able to enable Disqus on my blog.
I tried disqus but the problem I am seeing is that with Drupal you could add objects to your comment with disqus you can't (e.g., embedded videos).
