While I'm looking for work I've been playing with the new version friendfeed API and built a module to track mentions of an individual node. If you look at block at the bottom of this post you can see what I'm trying to do. I've managed to recapture some comments about one of my blog posts that I didn't know happened and see some other activity around my posts such as who's bookmarked it, who's shared it on google reader, etc. If the link shows up in a public post on friendfeed, it shows up in that block. Mind you, it's very much a work and progress, I'm still working on theming it and getting it up and running and I want to do a separate block showing recent activity for a host in the sidebar. As we the discussion around posts has moved from blogs to social media, functionality like this seems important to me.
Today I exchanged some email with Rob Loach, the maintainer of the friendfeed module and we decided to roll this functionality into that module and look at sprucing up the current module's functionality and move it over to version 2 of the API. Hopefully in the near future I'll have more to tell you.
Keep in mind, seanreiser.com is really my playground and never a full fledged production site. As I play I may break something. Don't be surprised if something temporally breaks.
